This report from the National Health Performance Authority (NHPA) shows how some organisations have broken
with tradition when it comes to maternal and child health outcomes. In the past, regional and remote areas and areas of lower socio-economic level would normally have a lower rate of antenatal visits, maternal health and child health. However these latest statistics show that a number of Medicare Locals are making a difference, and they have been successful in tailoring primary healthcare to the needs of their regions. And the result is positive. The report also shows areas which can do better in the future.
