Stephen Duckett from the Grattan Institute has authored an article in The Conversation which attempts to explain the current pre-election debate surrounding Medicare. Is Medicare under threat? Making sense of the privatisation debate cuts through the political rhetoric arguing that the Medicare system certainly needs to be modernised, as suggested by the Coalition, but privatising funding sources would be problematic.
