Most patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS) receive oxygen therapy as
part of their emergency treatment, initiated by paramedics during transfer and
before their first contact with a physician. Many therapies and interventions
are not based on proven benefit, but on anecdotal evidence, expert opinion and
tradition. This is especially true for oxygen therapy, which is usually not
