An article in the Joint
Commission Journal on Quality and Patient Safety discusses the need for healthcare workers to learn when and how to speak up. One group this can be particularly relevant (and difficult) for is
junior doctors. This article describes an educational program for interns that
successfully improved their knowledge and attitudes regarding speaking up. The
program was undertaken by 110 interns at University Hospital Galway in Ireland
in 2012 and 2013.
